Serampore with its rich cultural heritage and unique geographical position came to be the seat of Bengal Renaissance in the early 19th century. The efforts ofWilliam Carey, Joshua Marshman and William Ward to impart education to local people, finally culminated into the foundation of Serampore College in 1818. Consequently, the College has gained worldwide reputation as a unique institution proffering quality education in Christian Theology and liberal Arts, Science and Commerce.

College is affiliated to the University of Calcutta for Arts Science Commerce Dept to run diversified post graduate, under graduate, diploma and certificate courses. The college being the first missionary college in India, has always been the core attraction to the meritorious students.
