Department of Communicative English

About the Department

Keeping pace with modern job market, Serampore College has introduced this new job oriented course, recognize by UGC and approved by University of Calcutta. The department is equipped with a unique Language Lab where students can access modern equipments like computer with internet, microphone, DVD player, TV and audio system. The mission of the department is not only to improve the academic excellence of the students but also to make them self dependent; and to boost up their morale so that they can cope up at any situation.

• Communicative English (Major), A Three- Year- Degree Course Of 800 Marks

Message of the H. O. D.

We do not teach the students, rather, we act as the facilitators of the students so that they can manifest their best possible potentialities, and to guide them to reach the pinnacle of perfection.

Since this is a job oriented course, we have a dream to open a separate placement cell for the students in future.

We hope to facilitate more exposure to the students to the media and corporate world.

We have a plan to set up an alumni association.

Besides, teachers from English and Commerce Department take classes regularly.We also invite several eminent guest faculties and professionals specialized in different areas to teach the students.

Seminar Library

Department is equipped with approximately one hundred books. Students get access to these books.

Activities

• We motivate the students not to confine themselves within text books but to think and look around the world so that they can mould themselves accordingly.
• We encourage to involve them in extra-curricular activities like attending seminars, quiz contest etc.
• We organize excursion and picnic and interaction with eminent persons to build up the personality of the students.
