Rules And Regulations For Selection Of Subjects Offered In The B.A. B.Sc. & B.Com. Courses

- Compulsory Languages for B.Com. & B.AÂ [General] Course Students
English/Communicative English (for B.Com. students) and Bengali/Alternative English (only students who did not have Bengali in H.S. or equivalent course are entitled to take Alt. English.)
- Elective subjects for B.A. (General Course)
Bengali, English or Sanskrit or Sociology, History or Mathematics, Philosophy or Geography or Journalism and Mass Communication, Political Science, Education and Economics. Each student has to take three elective subjects.
- Elective Subjects are offered in the following combinations for B.Sc. (General Course) Students
- Physics, Chemistry/Electronics, Mathematics
- Botany, Zoology and Physiology
- Economics, Mathematics and Political Science
- Economics, Mathematics and Philosophy
- Economics, Mathematics and English
- Physics, Mathematics, Statistics
- Economics, Mathematics, Statistics
- Mathematics, Statistics, Political Science
- Economics, Geography and any one Arts subject excepting Philosophy
- Economics, Mathematics and Bengali/Sanskrit/Sociology/Education/Geography
- Mathematics, Geography and Bengali/English/Sanskrit/Sociology/Political Science/Education
- Only Communicative English (Major) students be offered directly. Rest of the seats will be filled up as a change subject in order of merit after the admission is over preferably from students of Bengali (Hons.) & English (Hons.)
- All Degree Course students will have to take Environmental Studies in their Part-III Course.
- B.A. (Hons. & Major) Courses are offered in the following subjects (with number of seats)
English (33), Bengali (44), Education (20),Sanskrit (39), Philosophy (44), History (39), Political Science (39) and  Communicative English (Major) (33).
- B.Sc. (Honours) Courses are offered in the following subjects (with number of seats)
Physics (44), Chemistry (44), Mathematics (44), Economics (39), Geography (15), Botany (30), Zoology (22) and Physiology (30).
- B.Com. (Honours) Course is offered in
Finance and Accounting (66).
